Thanks for stopping by!
My name is Sam McDavitt, and I’ve been enjoying the board game hobby space since 2019. I had grown up collecting Hasbro’s Heroscape, but Spinmasters Santorini was the game that introduced me to all the wonders of modern board gaming. I now like to call myself an “omnigamer” since I haven’t yet found a game I wouldn’t play at least once.
I realized around 2021 that my passion for board gaming didn’t end just at the game table. I would find myself up at night after a play of a new game, getting lost in thought. “Why was I captivated by this mechanic of the game”? “What would happen to the gameplay if we didn’t know the turn order until everyone had discarded a card?” “What if I were to make a game?”
Fast forward to 2023, and I’m now on that journey. Follow along as we build the world of Everstone and look to take those thoughts from 2021 and make them a reality.
Design Philosophy
The games I enjoy playing most share elements similar to how I try to design. Three things I appreciate games having that I look to design around are:
Easy to learn and quick to set up, but enough depth to reward multiple plays
Streamlined components and multi-use cards
Game’s that build to moments you want to share
